The venue for the "Michele de Lucchi" retrospective was the von Gerkan, Marg and Partners architectural practice on the banks of the River Elbe in Hamburg. The building, designed by the architect Meinhard von Gerkan, provided the perfect setting for the exhibition; with its three floors and circular staircase, the construction is as spectacular as its hillside setting with stunning views over the Elbe.

Meinhard von Gerkan, Volkwin Marg and their partners founded the architectural company gmp in 1965. With over 500 employees across fourteen offices, gmp operates both in Germany and abroad. gmp is one of the few generalist practices to be responsible for a complete project from the initial design concept, through construction to interior design.
