Cookie policy profiling

1. Introduction

The purpose of this Cookie Policy, produced pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of General data protection Regulation (GDPR) 2016/679 (hereinafter for brevity the GDPR) and to the applicable Italian provisions of law, is to describe the types and usage methods of Cookies and to provide instructions on steps to be taken to reject or eliminate the cookies present in the website if so desired.

With respect to any matter not explicitly provided for here, see the contents of the Privacy Policy.

2. What are cookies and how are they used?

Cookies are packets of information sent by a web server (e.g. the website) to the user's Internet browser, which are automatically stored on your computer and sent to the server with each subsequent access to the site. Almost all browsers are set to accept cookies automatically by default.

Typically, cookies can be installed:

  • directly by the owner and/or administrator of the website (so-called first party cookies)
  • by administrators extraneous to the website visited by the user (so-called third party cookies). Where not specified otherwise, note that the administrators of such cookies are directly and exclusively liable for them. Further information on privacy and on the use of these cookies is available on the websites of their respective administrators.

This website may use, including in combination with each other, the following types of cookies, which have been classified on the basis of the instructions of the Italian Data Protection Authority and the opinions and recommendations issued at the European level by the Article 29 "Future of Privacy" Working Party:

  • Session Cookies which are not stored permanently on the user's computer and are deleted when the browser is closed. They are strictly limited to transmitting the session identifiers required to enable a safe and efficient exploration of the website and to avoid the use of other technologies that could compromise users privacy
  • Persistent Cookies that remain stored on the computer's hard drive until they expire or are deleted by users/visitors. Using persistent cookies, visitors accessing the site (or any other users who use the same computer) are automatically recognised at each visit. Visitors can set their computer's browser to accept/reject all cookies or to alert whenever a cookie is offered, in order to assess whether or not to accept it. The default configuration can be changed and cookies disabled (i.e. definitively blocked) by setting a higher security level.
  • Technical Cookies are cookies used for authentication, to benefit from multimedia content of the 'flash player' type and to enable selection of the browsing language. Therefore it is not generally necessary to obtain the user's prior and informed consent. This category includes cookies that statistically analyse website accesses/visits, but only if used exclusively for statistical purposes through the collection of information in aggregated form.
  • Non-technical cookies are all cookies used for profiling and marketing purposes. Their use on user's machines is prohibited if the users have not been adequately informed in advance and have not given their valid consent by the opt-in procedure. These types of cookies can in turn be grouped on the basis of the functions they perform into:

* Analitycs. These are cookies used to collect and analyse statistical information on accesses/visits to the website. In some cases, in combination with other information such as credentials entered for access to restricted areas (the user's email address or password), they can be used to profile the user (personal habits, sites visited, downloaded content, types of interactions, etc.). For example, in order to obtain aggregated information that can be used to assess the use of the website and visitors' activities, Google Inc. stores information collected by the cookie on a server that may be located in the United States or in another country. Google reserves the right to transfer the information collected by its cookie to third parties if required by law or if the third party processes the information on its behalf. Google guarantees that it does not associate the IP address with any other data held in order to obtain a more detailed profile of the user.

* Widgets. This category includes the graphic components of the user interface of a program, to facilitate the user's interaction with the program. For example, the cookies of Facebook, Google+ and Twitter are widgets.

* Advertsing. This category includes cookies used for advertising on a website. GoogleAdsense and Tradedoubler belong to this category.

* Web beacons. This category includes snippets of code that enable a website to transfer or collect information through a request for a graphic image. Websites can use them for various purposes, such as analysis of website use, control and reporting of advertising, and the customisation of advertising and content.
