Switching off: Tolomeo creates the hotel mood
Ten years ago, I visited the coastal town of Sankt Peter Ording on the North Sea for the first time, for the opening of a hotel resort. The first thing that struck me as soon as I entered my room was the four Tolomeo lamps. I was impressed – the room was not particularly large and the furnishings were attractively simple, as is typical of the North Sea, but the four Tolomeo lamps – one standard lamp, two wall lamps and a desk lamp – made the room something special. I felt at home straight away and have been spending the weekend there at least twice a year ever since. For me, it's the perfect place to switch off, not least because of the beautiful lamps. I think that the Tolomeo is the archetypal lamp. I like the delicate lines, the lamp head that can be moved in any direction and the slightly technical feel of it. I also have a Tolomeo at home, of course: It stands on a sideboard and shows my favourite sculpture off in the right light.
